EUGENE GUTIERREZ

BOARD MEMBER OF AUTISM INGENUITY FOUNDATION

About Me

Eugene Gutierrez is a dedicated educator with a wealth of experience in both business and special education. He holds multiple professional teaching credentials, including Emergency Credential, Educational Specialist, and Mild/Moderate Credentials, as well as Multiple Subject Credentials earned through Cal Poly Pomona. His academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Cal State San Bernardino in 1990.

Eugene continued to pursue his passion for education at the University of Redlands, where he earned his Multiple Subject Credential in 1996 and his Moderate to Severe Credential in 1998. In 2006, he completed his Master’s in Education at the University of Phoenix. His early teaching career included serving as a substitute teacher from 1994 to 1999, followed by roles as an Emergency Credential Teacher at Ayala High School (1999–2000), and later, a Moderate to Severe Teacher at both Ayala High School and Stone Ridge Academy during the 2019–2020 school year.

Today, Eugene works as a respite care provider, bringing compassion, patience, and a deep understanding to individuals with special needs. His calm demeanor and strong work ethic make him a trusted presence in the lives of the students and families he supports. He has a special interest in working with students from primary age to adulthood who have moderate to severe disabilities. His focus is on building life skills, promoting independence, and preparing students for the workforce when appropriate. He also enjoys supporting general education students in reaching their academic goals and preparing for college success.

Eugene’s commitment to education is matched by his love for his family. He is a proud father and grandfather, and serves as the primary caregiver to one of his grandsons who is on the autism spectrum—a role that has deepened his empathy and firsthand knowledge of supporting children with unique needs.

As a valued board member, Eugene brings a rare blend of personal insight, professional expertise, and a generous, open-hearted nature. His background in both business administration and special education gives him a well-rounded perspective that greatly benefits the organization and the communities it serves.
